If Cleveland’s long winter and our chilly spring weather had you spending a lot of time indoors, staring at all the things in your home that could use updating, you’re probably ready to start making some changes. You may have a very specific idea of what you want to renovate, but if you don’t know where to begin, we have some tips and idea-starters for your next remodeling project!

What changes would make you love your home again?
1. Lighter, Brighter, Spacious Interiors
Almost all the older homes in Chagrin River Company’s service area are often dark and boxy. With a bit of creativity, we can remove and reposition walls to create a better flow and a more open and light-filled feel for your home.
Swapping out old, small windows with larger high performance, energy-efficient ones will also brighten up the space and, at the same time, make the space more comfortable.

2. Add Extra Living Space
What if you have a great neighborhood and wonderful neighbors, but your house is too small? Give yourself some extra elbow room with a light and bright addition to your home. Enlarging the kitchen with a bump-out and windows or adding a family room can also give you a sunnier disposition. We will design your home addition to assure it blends in naturally with your existing home style and doesn’t look simply tacked on.
3. Streamlined Bathroom Fixtures
One of the best bath trends we’re seeing is a move toward sleeker, less bulky bathroom fixtures and cabinets compared to the past. Small, outdated bathrooms are also notoriously difficult to clean.

Today’s new, streamlined wall-hung bathroom vanities and toilets hover above the floor, making the room feel more spacious. Or, you can select a minimalist toilet with a “skirted” base. The nooks and crannies have been smoothed out for a modern, elegant look and easier cleaning. Cleaning the bathroom just got much easier. We’re all for that!
4. Finished Basements
If your basement is filled with unused exercise equipment and lots of boxes stacked on a cold concrete floor, we have some great ideas for making that space useful and fun. Finishing the basement can give you practical storage space plus a cozy family room, or maybe a media room, workout room, wine cellar, or home office.
We help homeowners visualize the possibilities of their basements, as well as solving dampness, temperature and lighting problems. A finished basement is almost always the lowest cost per square foot home improvement you can add to your home, so it’s the perfect way to add the space you need.
“Home improvement” means so much more than buying a new dishwasher or replacing a faucet or two. Updates in any room can make a big difference in how your home looks, works, and feels.
